BON DANCE 2011

The Koganji Temple Bon Dance will be held on Friday, August 5th  and Saturday, August 6th from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. at 2869 Oahu Avenue in Manoa Valley.

This free annual event features traditional bon dancing, as well as the latest dances. The Children’s Lantern Parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ryusei Taiko will perform in their typical high energy style at 8:30 P.M. on both nights!  All the booths open at 5:30 p.m. and will include the  popular Country Store full of baked goods, homemade snacks, jellies, salsa, and sauces. There will be a wide array of food booths offering a variety of delicious treats like grilled corn-on-the-cob, golden brown andagi, signature Kimono Dog (Japanese Corndog), yakisoba, beef stew plate lunches, shave ice, mochi and more!

We look forward to having you join us again this year!

Please enjoy this video from last year's bon dance.

Here is Bishop Rose and her famous grilled corn basted with her "secret sauce".

Kinako mochi is a crowd favorite that is sold later in the evening.

The Koganji bon dance would not be complete without some Yakisoba.

Don't forget to shop at the Country Store for homemade baked treats, jams, jellies, sauces, and other goodies.
